The KSG is the final shotgun made available in the game. Its initial purchase is its only upgrade, and has the 3rd highest damage of all weapons available.
The blueprint for the KSG is made available at Tech level 9 and requires 6 pieces to unlock. This shotgun has a red dot sight, making it unique to its class. It has a 12 round magazine and has 48 in reserve. Like its predecessors (Ithaca and SPAS), it is a pump-action shotgun, making it an ideal candidate for run-and-gun tactics. Best coupled with a long range weapon such as an Assault Rifle.
This shotgun is incredibly powerful; even at high levels this shotgun is more than capable of killing a normal walker in one hit without even aiming down the sights. Special zombies will not take more than a few shots to kill when aimed properly. However, the reload time is absolutely abysmal; loading 12 individual shells is never something that can be done very quickly. This shotgun is therefore better served as a backup weapon; used when one is in dire situations, like being surrounded at close range or being cornered by a mob. Using this as a primary is not recommended because its rather heavy and that reloading 12 shells individually will leave you in grave danger as you are defenseless for at least a full 4 seconds.
